Good day to you all and welcome once again from our sponsors BargainBrute.com recently voted America's favorite place to shop online in 2020 with the Best Online Shopping Deals Right Now. Today we are going to take a look at what you can do with just 99 bricks and a couple of shovels of cement. Sounds like a strange topic considering that we have been tasked with explaining all we know about Online shopping 99 discount especially when at a time when our world is reeling under what is probably our world's worst ever pandemic since humans began to record such events.
As the world fights to control a pandemic, a pandemic unheralded since the end of the 1st World War, way back in 1918 we wonder just what you can do with only 99 bricks and a bucket full of cement.
One older man once retired from politics going by the name of Winston Churchill maintained that all a man required to make a home for himself and his family was 99 bricks a good shovel and a bucket of self-mixed cement. Of course, we everyday people know only too well that to survive in the business community you need much more than 99 bricks and a bit of cement. You also need both the will and the respect of your fellow humans to have any chance whatsoever to surviving not only life but within a very populated online business community.
OK, what are we talking about when we say Online shopping 99 discount? We are of course looking into various ways that some businessmen have come up with some money-saving ideas, some of which in themselves were quite astounding in their own right.
One man who we have already spoken about in a previous narrative, Dave Gold, turned his crumbling liquor store that he had inherited into one of America's major Online shopping 99 discount store chains. How did he do this? Simply by watching how people shopped and to what lengths they would go to in order to search out the best Online shopping 99 discounts in the country.
Another major figure, this time over in the United Kingdom retail community way back in the early 1950s, a gentleman named Nadir Lalani a Tanzanian gentleman who after arriving in England, opened up his first store appley called the 99P store which proved so successful that he was able to expand, opening another three in the first year of business.
Unfortunately for Nadir, like many other retailers, he ran into a problem. Inflation in those times was rampant in the British Isles, pushing up prices of his stocks to a point where he was having a problem paying for them, so he hit on a very simple idea, instead of discounting his wares any lower he just ordered them in fewer quantities.
A couple of examples of this practice, is the practice of reducing the amount of tape on a Sellotape reel and then selling it at the now reduced Online shopping 99 discount. Some other retailers even began selling eggs in boxes of six instead of by the dozen, a simple strategy but one that obviously served him well.
Now back in the United States in the early 1950s we meet up with a gentleman named Sebastian Spering Kresge born on his family's small farm in Kresgeville, he would go on to become of one of America's most successful Online shopping 99 discount owners.
This period of time in the United States can only be called the glory time of the "variety store". They populated the high streets of most American communities only diminishing with the rapid popularity of the more convenient online shopping of today. Stores like "Kmart," "Ames," "Two Guys," "Gibsons Discount Center," just to name a few springs to mind, "Woolco," I have a particularly fond memory of as one of my very young sons at the time went into one of these and seeing a bicycle he liked just got on it rode it out of the store to proudly show us when he returned home with his latest proud possession.
I can still remember my conversation with both the local police captain and the store manager; the store manager actually apologized to us for putting his life in danger, very nice of him I thought. However, the local police captain was not as polite in his reply to me as he told us to just put the bike in the back of our small car and lean it up against the wall of the local police station. He then returned it to "Woolco".
A little after this day, I along with my wife and of course my young son, went back to the store to do some shopping. It was while inside that the manager ambled across and went onto one knee and explained the consequences of shoplifting, it was a lecture which I think my young son never forgot, he would go on to have a successful career in retail much later in life. I know it may seem a bit strange, but I often think of where that elderly "Woolco," manager is today, I also wonder if he realizes just how profound he was that day in his store in shaping the world of a very young guy, my young son.
Authors note: It was only while researching this short narrative that I found out that "Walmart," "Kmart," and "Target," were all creations of Mr. Kresga, a person who later in the century was called by many as the king of the "Dime Store," the original Online shopping 99 discount store.
Well, my good friends once again we have come to the end of yet another short narrative, I do hope you all enjoyed reading it, and on behalf of the Vandergraph family, and every employee at Bargainbrute.com, together we "Thank you for shopping with us today".
