Skipping one or two meals a day is not the way to go, if you do continue to do so, the stored calories you have already worked hard to gain will in-fact be used up instead of the energy which should have been provided by your regular meals.

However, if you do indulge yourself with your favorite dessert or fast food take out, more than likely, it will end up transferring straight to one of your problem areas, thighs, buttocks, or hips etc.

Keep your goals realistic. You will not lose 40 pounds in 2 weeks. So ensure you have a mindset that will allow you to eat healthily, and stay healthy throughout your newfound slimline lifestyle.

Drink regular servings of water.

Your body needs sufficient water to burn fat; it will also help keep your bodies cells hydrated and healthy.

Avoid too much sugar.

Plan your meals around lots of fruits, vegetables, bread, rice, or pasta, a must for that quick carb fix. Furthermore, eat plenty of lean wholesome meat and protein-rich foods.

Unfortunately, if you are like me, you probably love sweets, sodas, and pastries; however, this should only be a once-in-a-while indulgence. You may be pleasantly amazed at how many newly invented deserts are on shop shelves in today's world.

Watch your fat intake.

Much to many people's surprise, there are healthy fats around, not all are bad. Olives, peanuts, and canola oil all contain healthy fats. Tuna, salmon, and mackerel contain omega-3 fats essential for a healthy heart. 

Get lots of cardiovascular exercises.

Think of taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Skate, jog, cycle or walk instead of using the car. Join a gym, or if you are too embarrassed to go to the gym like many of us, join an online exercise class, there are many of them.

Do the above regularly, and you will not even notice you are shedding those hard to lose pounds until you look in a mirror and see the new you.

Bottom line: It does not matter how much weight you plan or need to lose; what is essential is that you set realistic goals for yourself.

For those who have already lost 5 or 6 pounds, give yourself a break before attempting to lose the next 5 pounds, it is not a race, so remember the following.
